In September last year, I had the chance to visit the Divine Mercy Hills after an official meeting we’ve had in Cagayan de Oro City. Divine Mercy Hills is located in El Salvador City with a vast area of 11.8 hectares. The area was purchased in the amount of 8.5 Million Pesos which stands the magnificient 22 Million peso statue designed by a UP Fine Arts graduate Mr. Nick Reyes.
There were some things we did before going up to the statue. We were briefed in a small room and next we were told to leave all our belongings and wear a skirt. The place was breathtaking but you’re not allowed to take pictures up there.
Among the many people that visit the Divine Mercy Statue, I experienced an outpouring joy, love and gratitude while being on top touching the statue. I started to feel an instant connection with Jesus, I wished we could stay a little longer but we’re not allowed to do that. Once I was up there I sense a feeling of calmness and peace and I had such idea for myself that it would be nice to stay there for a week if you want restoration and renewal of spirit.
There was also this healing room where everyone prayed and stayed silent for how many minutes. In the healing room, if I remember it right, one can bring water in a mineral bottle to have it blessed. We didn’t realized this while going there. Only when we felt thirsty and bought water from a store, we saw empty water containers for sale. Anyone going there should remember to bring water container and just fill it up from a faucet located at the back area of the Divine Mercy Statue.
We also lighted some candles which we bought from a boy. The boys selling candles had pretty good sales pitch. Each of the candle they’re selling has meaning, for e.g. pink for love, white for unity, green for money, yellow for career etc — hoping to believe this, we ended up buying all colors.
